1.(a) Rajiv Kumar

Rajiv Kumar was on August 21, 2020 appointed as the new Election Commissioner by President Ram Nath Kovind. The former finance secretary has been replaced Ashok Lavasa, who resigned earlier this week. 

2.(b) 15 percent

The central government has decided to sell up to 15 percent stake in Hindustan Aeronautics (HAL) through an offer for sale (OFS) on August 27-28, 2020. The floor price has been fixed at Rs 1,001 per share. 

3. (a) Gujarat

Gujarat was ranked at the top of Niti Aayog's Export Preparedness Index 2020. Maharashtra was placed second and Tamil Nadu followed in third place, as per a report released by NITI Aayog on August 26, 2020.

Rafale fighter jets will be formally inducted into the Indian Air Force by Union Defence Minister Rajnath Singh on September 10, 2020 at the Ambala airbase in Haryana. French Defence Minister Florence Parly will be invited for the induction ceremony.
